The authors report an increasing incidence of diseases of the right colon and ileum that require resection of the right colon or its segment, as well as the terminal ileum, with restoration of intestinal continuity. However, the outcomes of these procedures are compromised by a relatively high incidence of anastomotic leakage. The authors conclude that the use of invagination anastomoses, including a modified “invaginated” end-to-end ileotransverse anastomosis, along with an improved algorithm of surgical tactics and treatment, makes it possible to optimize surgical management and improve outcomes in this group of patients.
