The authors report that in the early postoperative period in patients with obesity associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus, the use of laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy and modified mini-gastric bypass resulted in a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of complications compared with the control group. The authors conclude that the modified bariatric procedures developed and implemented in clinical practice made it possible to substantially reduce postoperative complication rates and mortality, thereby confirming the effectiveness of the proposed differentiated approach to the surgical treatment of obesity, including morbid obesity associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
