The authors report that obesity and associated metabolic disorders are an urgent problem in modern medicine, as they represent a global health problem that has the nature of a pandemic and is associated with a significantly increasing risk of morbidity and mortality. The authors conclude that the effectiveness of conservative therapy is 5-10%. Therefore, surgical methods have become widely used all over the world, which requires further research.
