In this literature review, the authors note that today, a clear trend towards a steady increase in obesity, including morbid obesity, has emerged worldwide. A number of studies have been devoted to this problem, where issues of etiopathogenesis, methods of conservative and surgical treatment are studied. The authors note that, despite the successes achieved, conservative therapy is often unsuccessful, and surgical treatment is associated with complications that often require repeated surgical treatment. This circumstance causes an urgent need for further research.
