Annotatsiya

This article examines prompts as speech acts in human interaction with generative artificial intelligence on the basis of English and Uzbek communicative material. A prompt is interpreted not as a purely technical command, but as a complex communicative unit that encodes intention, context, role, constraints and expected output. The study combines Austin’s and Searle’s speech act theory, Gricean cooperative principles, relevance theory and contemporary approaches to prompt engineering. English prompts tend to rely on explicit imperatives, role assignment and formal output constraints, whereas Uzbek prompts require closer attention to politeness, honorific address, agglutinative morphology, register and contextual specification. The article classifies prompts as directive, assertive, metapragmatic and cognitively scaffolding acts and explains how these features guide model responses.
