This article explores the pedagogical role of English riddles in teaching A2 level learners and in assessing their ingenuity and logical thinking ability. The study focuses on how riddles activate vocabulary, reinforce grammatical patterns in meaningful contexts, stimulate learner motivation, and create opportunities for diagnostic assessment. Riddles are treated as short problem-based texts that combine linguistic form, semantic inference, cultural knowledge, and creative reasoning. The article proposes a methodological model for using riddles at different stages of the English lesson and presents assessment indicators for evaluating learners’ comprehension, inferencing, flexibility of thinking, and verbal explanation of answers. The findings suggest that English riddles can serve not only as entertaining classroom activities but also as effective tools for integrating language practice with cognitive development.
