The article examines the national and cultural specificity of the representation of emotional states in the Russian and Karakalpak languages. The relevance of the study is determined by the growing interest of modern linguistics in the problems of the linguistics of emotions, emotive semantics, the linguistic worldview, and the intercultural interpretation of the emotional sphere. The aim of the article is to identify the common and nationally specific features of the linguistic representation of emotional states in the Russian and Karakalpak languages. The study employs descriptive, comparative, semantic, and linguocultural methods of analysis. It has been established that emotional states in both languages are represented through vocabulary, phraseology, metaphorical models, somatic images, and evaluative constructions. It is shown that the universality of basic emotional states is combined with differences in figurative concretization, the degree of explicitness of emotional evaluation, and the set of culturally marked means of expressing emotions. It is concluded that the national and cultural specificity of the representation of emotional states is manifested in the nature of metaphorization, the choice of bodily and behavioral features, and typical models of the emotional interpretation of reality.
