This study examined changes in students’ perceptions of digital technology in language learning between 2023 and 2026. A comparative cross-sectional design using a structured questionnaire was employed to assess students’ perceptions of digital tools, their benefits, and perceived barriers across two time periods among EFL students (N = 30 per cohort) at KIUT University. Students reported the positive impact of digital technologies on developing their creativity, teamwork skills, and language acquisition, as well as expanding their vocabulary and increasing their engagement in the learning process. Despite their familiarity with digital tools, students encountered difficulties related to the complexity of academic assignments, technical demands, and limited access to adequate learning resources. Technology was perceived as a useful tool but sometimes distracting, highlighting its dual role in the learning process. The findings demonstrate that digital technologies can be beneficial for students; however, successful integration requires adequate access, digital literacy, and interactive pedagogical application. This study contributes to the existing literature by examining students’ perceptions over time and highlighting the value of digital support in language acquisition.
