This article provides a scientific-theoretical and practical analysis of the role and significance of international assessment programs within the context of smart schools. As digital transformation processes intensify in the modern education system, evaluating educational quality based on international criteria is becoming a pressing issue. From this perspective, the article highlights the essence of PISA, conducted by the OECD, and the TIMSS and PIRLS studies, initiated by the IEA, examining their integration with the smart school model. The article explains the pedagogical and technological foundations of the smart school concept and substantiates the compatibility of digital infrastructure, adaptive learning systems, and AI-based monitoring and learning analytics tools with international assessment criteria. Furthermore, it analyzes Uzbekistan's participation in international assessment programs, their role in modernizing national curricula, and their impact on developing students' functional literacy. The research findings indicate that the systematic integration of international assessment programs into the operations of smart schools is a crucial factor in enhancing educational quality, strengthening the competency-based approach, and ensuring students' global competitiveness.
