Questioning and answering verbs constitute an essential component of the lexical system because they serve as linguistic means for initiating, maintaining, and completing verbal interaction. These verbs not only express the communicative acts of asking and responding but also reflect various semantic, pragmatic, and functional relationships within a language. The present study examines the lexical status of questioning and answering verbs, their semantic organization, and their position within the broader system of lexical units. Special attention is paid to the semantic distinctions among these verbs, their paradigmatic and syntagmatic relations, and their contribution to the realization of communicative intentions in discourse. The research adopts a lexical-semantic approach supported by componential, contextual, and comparative methods to reveal the structural and functional characteristics of this verbal group.
