This article examines the potential of the lexical-phraseological system of English as manifested in low-frequency and occasional collocations. The study focuses on the mechanisms by which new collocational units emerge through analogy, semantic shift, connotative reinterpretation, and socio-cultural context. Special attention is given to the role of low-frequency collocations in naming new realities, compressing meaning, producing stylistic effects, and filling lexical or conceptual gaps. The analysis demonstrates that such collocations are not merely peripheral or accidental phenomena, but important indicators of language development and lexical innovation. The findings show that low-frequency and occasional collocations are often formed not by rigid grammatical rules, but through the analogical reworking of existing collocational models.
