Spatial relations constitute a fundamental aspect of human cognition and linguistic expression. Every language encodes spatial concepts through grammatical structures, lexical elements, and cognitive patterns that reflect how speakers perceive and organize the surrounding world. This study aims to examine the representation of spatial relations in English and Uzbek from a comparative cognitive-linguistic perspective. It investigates the similarities and differences in the use of spatial prepositions, postpositions, and other locative expressions in both languages. A qualitative comparative method was employed, drawing on grammatical data, linguistic studies, and examples from authentic language use. The results indicate that while English and Uzbek express similar spatial concepts—such as location, direction, motion, and distance—they differ significantly in grammatical structure due to their typological characteristics. English relies primarily on prepositions, whereas Uzbek predominantly utilizes postpositions and case markers. These differences have significant implications for second language acquisition, translation studies, and intercultural communication. The study highlights the importance of cognitive linguistic approaches in explaining how spatial meanings are understood across languages and demonstrates that an understanding of spatial relations enhances learners' communicative competence and translation accuracy.
