The article is devoted to analyzing the current state and development trends of the green economy, a model of economic activity in which economic growth is achieved through technological efficiency and the preservation of natural capital rather than resource depletion. The conceptual basis of the green economy is examined, including the balance of the three pillars of sustainable development: economic, social, and environmental. Based on current data for 2025–2026, the article analyzes the dynamics of the European Union’s “green” sector, including the growth of the green economy and the introduction of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM), as well as signs of partial deregulation of EU climate policy associated with the Omnibus I package. Special attention is paid to the experience of Uzbekistan as an example of a developing economy that is systematically forming the regulatory framework for the green transition, from strategies to green energy certification, and demonstrating noticeable growth in renewable energy generation. The key areas of green transformation are considered: renewable energy, circular economy, energy efficiency, sustainable transport, carbon regulation, and ESG finance. Barriers hindering an even global transition are identified. The article concludes that environmental efficiency is becoming not only an element of social responsibility but also a factor of economic competitiveness.
