This article examines the development of the elegy genre in Karakalpak lyric poetry during the independence period. Drawing on the works of I. Yusupov, M. Jumanazarova and G. Dawletova, it explores the poetic nature of the elegy, its process of national adaptation, artistic expressive devices, and its ecological and philosophical dimensions. The study also evaluates the role of the elegy in the development of contemporary Karakalpak lyric poetry.
