В данной статье в сопоставительном аспекте анализируются функционально-прагматические особенности эмоционально-оценочных прилагательных в разговорной речи английского и узбекского языков. В исследовании рассматриваются вопросы оценки, экспрессивности, градации, межличностного воздействия, выражения субъективной позиции, а также функционирования данных прилагательных в составе речевых актов. Диалогическая природа разговорной речи, её ситуативная обусловленность, а также тесная связь с интонацией и контекстом рассматриваются как основные факторы, определяющие семантико-прагматический потенциал эмоционально-оценочных прилагательных. Анализ показывает, что в обоих языках данные прилагательные выступают активным средством выражения аксиологической оценки, однако в английском языке заметнее лексическая дифференциация, тогда как в узбекском языке более отчётливо проявляются контекстуальная эластичность и экспрессивная насыщенность.
