The article examines the issue of the relationship between the literary language and non-literary elements, in particular colloquial speech, dialectisms, and contemporary youth slang. The necessity of distinguishing between normative and stylistic approaches to linguistic facts is emphasized. Special attention is given to youth slang as an independent layer of spoken language, reflecting the social and cultural realities of modern times.
