The article examines semantic shifts occurring in the lexical system of the modern Uzbek language under the influence of sociocultural, technological, and globalization processes. The relevance of the study lies in the active development of the language system, where changes in word meanings, expansion and narrowing of semantics, metaphorization, and borrowing of new lexemes are widely observed. The purpose of the research is to identify the main tendencies and regularities of semantic changes that reflect the dynamics of the modern Uzbek language. The study applies componential, contextual, and comparative-semantic methods of analysis. The results reveal a stable trend toward the democratization of vocabulary, the strengthening of colloquial and media layers of the language, and the active emergence of neologisms with modified semantic structures. The novelty of the work lies in the systematic description of the mechanisms of semantic shifts based on the material of modern Uzbek discourse.
