The article examines the features of documentary literature as a genre situated at the intersection of journalism and fiction. The author analyzes how reportage, chronicle, and testimony transform into fully-fledged literary works while maintaining documentary authenticity. Special attention is paid to stylistic and structural techniques that allow writers to turn factual material into profound artistic text. The paper explores examples from the works of both domestic and foreign authors, which enables tracing the evolution of the genre and the changes in readers' perception of documentary narrative.
