This article analyzes the history of the formation and development of the state ecological expertise system—its path from Ancient Egypt to modern international legal institutions. It covers the international legal framework from the U.S. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 to the Espoo Convention, as well as the historical stages of the ecological expertise system in Uzbekistan.
