The article examines the linguo-methodological foundations for developing scientific writing skills in university students. It analyzes key components of writing competence—linguistic, pragmatic, cognitive, and discursive—and their roles in mastering academic writing. Based on the characteristics of scientific discourse and modern methodological approaches, a structured step-by-step instructional model is proposed. This model includes diagnostics, the formation of a linguistic base, the development of cognitive-discursive skills, familiarization with academic genres, writing practice, feedback, and skill integration. The study emphasizes the importance of systematic, context-oriented instruction and highlights the crucial role of the teacher in supporting students’ development of scientific writing competence. It concludes that linguo-methodologically grounded, staged instruction significantly improves students’ academic preparedness and enhances their readiness for independent research work.
