Annotatsiya

This article examines contemporary approaches to history education, focusing on historical thinking, critical analysis of sources, causal reasoning, evidence-based conclusions, and the comparison of historical interpretations. It distinguishes the roles of the International Baccalaureate (IB), Cambridge International, the Council of International Schools (CIS), and Cognia, and considers how selected principles can inform history teaching. UNESCO’s Global Citizenship Education and the OECD Learning Compass 2030 are also discussed in relation to historical learning. Drawing on theoretical and comparative analysis, the article proposes practical approaches to inquiry-based lessons, primary-source analysis, criterion-referenced assessment, and the purposeful use of digital tools. The lesson model and assessment rubric are examples proposed by the author and should not be regarded as official mandatory criteria of the organizations discussed.
