The authors report that to date there remains a growing trend in the number of emergency and elective surgical interventions requiring right-sided hemicolectomy with the formation of an ileocolic anastomosis. The authors conclude that the high risk of anastomotic leakage often forces surgeons to create a stoma. Moreover, surgical restoration of intestinal continuity itself is frequently complicated by intestinal suture failure and is associated with a high mortality rate. Concluding the literature review, the authors emphasize that improving the quality of life of this category of patients has significant scientific, practical, and social importance.
