This article analyzes perspectives on tactical methods used in criminal investigations, commonly referred to as “investigative ruses” or “deception.” It examines the permissibility of using such tactical investigative methods to expose criminal activity. In doing so, the article considers the views of domestic and foreign scholars and analyzes relevant legislation.
