This article examines the cognitive-semantic nature of anthropocentric metaphors in English and Uzbek using corpus linguistics methodologies. The study focuses on how human anatomy, physiological states, and cognitive reactions serve as source domains for conceptualizing external reality. Based on focus corpora of 1 million tokens compiled from BNC, Sketch Engine, and UzCorpora, a rigorous quantitative and qualitative analysis was performed. The methodological framework incorporates the MIPVU protocol and a custom-developed Collocation Asymmetry Index (CAI). Analysis results reveal a structural dominance of cognitive-hierarchical metaphors in English (mind, head) and emotional-affective models in Uzbek (ko‘ngil, heart). The identified statistical asymmetry in cognitive states (LL = 7.91) provides empirical evidence of cross-linguistic ethno-cultural variations. The research offers significant insights for specialists in Natural Language Processing (NLP), translation studies, and cognitive linguistics by shifting the comparison of metaphors from literary tropes to structural-network mapping within balanced linguistic data.
