Annotatsiya

This study investigates and compares the cognitive and linguistic strategies employed by novice and professional translators during oral translation tasks. Using a think-aloud protocol combined with qualitative performance evaluation, the research analyzes how experience level influences strategy selection, problem-solving approaches, error recovery, and overall translation quality. The findings reveal that professional translators rely more heavily on top-down comprehension strategies, anticipation, and pragmatic reformulation, whereas novice translators demonstrate a greater dependence on word-for-word rendering, literal equivalence, and source-language interference. The study contributes to process-oriented translation research and has direct implications for translator training programs, particularly in contexts where oral translation competence is a primary professional requirement.
