This scientific article examines the artistic and philosophical interpretation of the concept of time in English and Karakalpak heroic epics on the basis of comparative analysis. The relevance of the study lies in the fact that, in epic works, the category of time functions not only as a factor determining the sequence of events but also as an important artistic tool reflecting the historical memory, worldview, and mentality of a people. In the English epic tradition, particularly in medieval heroic poems, time is predominantly depicted in a linear manner and is closely connected with historical processes. In contrast, in Karakalpak epics, time often possesses a cyclical, mythological, and symbolic character, in which the past, present, and future are represented as an interconnected unity. The article identifies similarities and differences between these two literary traditions and reveals the role of time in epic thinking, as well as its functional significance in the creation of artistic images. The results of the study contribute to a deeper understanding of epic heritage and to the development of comparative literary studies in an intercultural context.
