Artificial intelligence has become an important component of modern foreign language education, particularly in development of communicative competence among philology students. Despite having sufficient grammatical knowledge, many learners continue to face difficulties with fluency, pronunciation, interaction skills, and confidence. This article examines the pedagogical role of AI-assisted tools such as ChatGPT, voice-recognition systems, and intelligent learning platforms in improving speaking skills, learner autonomy, motivation, and intercultural communication. Drawing on communicative language teaching principles and digital pedagogy, the study highlights how artificial intelligence contributes to more flexible and student-centered learning environments through personalized instruction and immediate feedback. The paper also discusses the advantages and challenges of AI-assisted language learning, emphasizing that overdependence on technology and limited intercultural sensitivity may negatively affect communicative development. Therefore, AI technologies should be integrated into language education critically, ethically, and with appropriate pedagogical guidance.
