Phraseological units in Ulugbek Hamdam’s short stories “The Melody of the Forgotten Nay” and “Muslim” manifest as multifunctional communicative tools. Through them, the author figuratively expresses the internal experiences of the characters and conveys a specific evaluation and attitude toward events. In this respect, phraseological units appear as complex entities performing informative, emotional-expressive, evaluative, impressive, and aesthetic functions.
