This article explores the impact of Project-Based Learning (PBL) on the development of students’ language skills and learner autonomy in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classrooms. Modern educational systems increasingly emphasize learner-centered approaches that encourage active participation, critical thinking, collaboration, and independent learning. Project-Based Learning has emerged as one of the most effective instructional methodologies for achieving these goals. The study discusses how PBL contributes to improving the four essential language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Furthermore, it analyzes the role of PBL in fostering learner autonomy by encouraging students to take responsibility for their own learning processes. The article also examines the theoretical foundations of PBL, its implementation in language classrooms, advantages, challenges, and practical implications for teachers and learners. Findings from previous studies indicate that PBL creates meaningful learning environments that enhance students’ motivation, communication skills, creativity, and problem-solving abilities. The article concludes that integrating Project-Based Learning into English language teaching can significantly improve students’ linguistic competence and independent learning capacities.
