This article analyzes the legal challenges associated with the application of artificial intelligence technologies in the procedures for granting permits for the use of natural resources. The study examines the possibilities of employing artificial intelligence in the issuance of permits related to the use of land, water, subsoil resources, forests, wildlife, and plant resources, particularly in the processes of algorithmic assessment, automated decision-making, environmental risk forecasting, electronic verification of applications, and monitoring activities. At the same time, the article identifies and analyzes key legal issues arising from AI-based permitting systems, including transparency, accountability, data reliability, algorithmic impartiality, human oversight, the right to access environmental information, and guarantees for appealing administrative decisions. Based on the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, environmental legislation, licensing and permitting procedures, strategic documents on the development of artificial intelligence, and international legal approaches, the article proposes a number of recommendations aimed at improving the legal framework governing the use of AI in natural resource permitting procedures.
