The application of translation methods in English language classes is considered an effective approach to developing students’ communicative competence. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of translation exercises on students’ linguistic, sociolinguistic, and pragmatic competences. The research employed theoretical analysis, experimental methods, questionnaires, and observation. The experiment was conducted with academic lyceum students, and it was observed that the group engaged in translation-based activities demonstrated significant improvement in vocabulary acquisition and communication skills. The findings indicate that translation methods facilitate faster mastery of subject-specific terminology, clearer expression of ideas, and the development of argumentative skills. Moreover, translation exercises promote interdisciplinary integration by enabling students to use English terminology from subjects such as physics, mathematics, and computer science. In conclusion, the implementation of translation methodology in English language classes represents an effective and innovative approach to enhancing students’ communicative competence.
