Analysis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s Policy Toward Contemporary Conflicts in the Middle East

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the political position of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) toward contemporary conflicts in the Middle East, as well as its institutional mechanisms and their practical effectiveness. The study compares the OIC’s approaches to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the crises in Syria and Yemen, and political instability in Libya, Iraq, and Lebanon. Particular attention is paid to the OIC’s capacity for diplomatic mobilization, mediation, humanitarian assistance, and the use of international legal mechanisms. The role of OIC institutions such as the Islamic Summit, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Al-Quds Committee, and other bodies in conflict resolution is assessed. The findings demonstrate that the OIC maintains a high level of political unity on the Palestinian issue; however, divergent geopolitical interests among its member states limit its effectiveness in addressing other conflicts. The absence of independent enforcement mechanisms is identified as a key institutional constraint. The article also examines prospects for strengthening the OIC’s capacity for mediation, humanitarian diplomacy, and the promotion of regional peace and security.
