The article examines the concept and distinctive characteristics of transnational organized crime as one of the most serious threats to national and international security. It analyzes the provisions of the 2000 United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime, which define an organized criminal group, a serious crime, and the criteria for determining the transnational nature of criminal offenses. The study explores the main characteristics of this phenomenon, including structural stability and hierarchy, network-based connections, the extraterritorial nature of criminal activities, the pursuit of excessive profits, and the use of corruption and money laundering. Particular attention is paid to the legal and organizational foundations for combating transnational organized crime in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The article concludes that international cooperation and operational-search activities need to be improved.
