The article examines the theoretical foundations of the competence-based approach and the specifics of its implementation in modern educational practice. It analyzes scholarly perspectives on the essence of the concepts of "competence" and "competency" and explores the role of the competence-based approach in enhancing the quality of education. Particular attention is paid to the development of students' key competencies as a crucial outcome of the educational process.
