This article provides an in-depth analysis of how microteaching-based reflection cycles contribute to the development of pedagogical decision-making skills among pre-service English teachers. Microteaching, understood as a short, focused teaching session, enables future teachers to experiment with instructional techniques, practice classroom management strategies, and gain hands-on experience in a controlled learning environment. When combined with structured reflection cycles, microteaching becomes a powerful tool for enhancing professional growth. Through processes such as video-based lesson analysis, reflective journaling, peer feedback, e-portfolios, and supervisor evaluations, pre-service teachers are able to critically examine their teaching behaviors, identify areas for improvement, and make informed instructional decisions. The study highlights how reflective cycles strengthen teachers’ ability to analyze classroom interactions, respond to unexpected challenges, select appropriate methodologies, manage time effectively, and plan communicative activities. The findings reveal that continuous engagement in reflection cycles significantly improves self-assessment, critical thinking, situational awareness, and pedagogical reasoning skills. Furthermore, the integration of reflection cycles within microteaching promotes the development of a stronger professional identity and supports evidence-based teaching practices. The article concludes that the microteaching–reflection model serves as an innovative, competency-oriented framework that effectively prepares pre-service English teachers for real-world instructional demands and enhances their readiness for the teaching profession.
