The article examines the theoretical foundations of the linguocultural approach to teaching Russian as a foreign language. The main principles of linguocultural studies, including their goals, objectives, and underlying principles, are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the relationship between language and culture, as well as to the role of the national and cultural component in developing learners’ communicative competence. The significance of the linguocultural approach for the effective acquisition of the Russian language and successful intercultural communication is substantiated.
