This study examines the translation of emotive phraseological units (FPUs) between English and Uzbek, focusing on their semantic, cultural, and expressive features. Emotive (FPUs) are language-specific idiomatic structures that convey not only denotative meaning but also the speaker’s emotional state, evaluative attitude, and cultural worldview. Because these expressions reflect national mentality and historical experience, their accurate translation poses significant linguistic challenges. The article analyzes common types of emotive (FPUs) expressing joy, anger, fear, surprise, affection, and disappointment in both languages. The divergence in figurative bases often prevents direct translation, leading to a loss of emotional intensity or stylistic nuance if rendered literally. To address these challenges, the study discusses several translation strategies, including full and partial equivalence, functional substitution, descriptive translation, and cultural adaptation. These approaches enable the translator to preserve both emotional expressiveness and idiomatic value. Special attention is given to cases where an FPU in one language has no direct analogue in the other, requiring creative linguistic solutions. The study shows that the successful translation of emotive FPUs requires not only linguistic proficiency but also deep intercultural competence. Ensuring the accurate transmission of emotional, stylistic, and cultural shades ultimately contributes to more effective cross-linguistic communication.
