This article examines the concepts of “thintelligence” and the capitalist trinity of science, business, and entertainment in Crichton’s techno-thrillers, with particular emphasis on Jurassic Park (1990) and The Andromeda Strain (1969). The study analyzes how Crichton employs scientific discourse and technological detail not merely as narrative devices but as instruments for critiquing human overconfidence in controlling complex systems. Drawing upon theories of science, technology, and popular culture, the article argues that Crichton’s novels function as cautionary narratives that expose the limitations of technological control and warn against the commercialization of scientific discovery. Ultimately, Crichton presents science as a powerful yet vulnerable human enterprise whose ethical value depends upon responsibility, humility, and awareness of unintended consequences.
