The article examines the functional potential of polymodal texts in modern mass media. The relevance of the research is determined by the active development of digital media communication, in which information is increasingly transmitted through a combination of verbal, visual, auditory, and audiovisual components. The purpose of the study is to identify and systematize the main functions of polymodal texts in modern media discourse. The research material consisted of publications from Kazakhstani online media and social media, including texts, images, videos, and audio accompaniment. The methods used in the study include discourse analysis, interpretative analysis, and functional analysis. As a result of the research, the main functions of polymodal texts were identified: informative-cognitive, interpretative, evaluative, persuasive, and socio-communicative. It has been established that the combination of different modalities contributes to more effective perception of information, the formation of an emotional attitude, the creation of additional meanings, and an enhanced communicative impact on the audience.
