This article examines the multifunctional nature of verbs, focusing on their ability to serve as the predicative core of a sentence, as adjectival modifiers through participial forms, and as subjects via gerunds. Each role is explored with reference to English grammar, complemented by a comparison to Uzbek language structures. By citing leading linguists such as Chomsky, Leech, Quirk, Jespersen, and Palmer, the paper highlights how verbs can shift across grammatical categories while retaining semantic depth. The contrastive analysis reveals how English, as an analytic language, and Uzbek, as an agglutinative language, express similar grammatical functions through different means.
