This article examines the current position of the Russian language in the global language system. It analyzes its sociolinguistic status, geographic distribution, and functional use in science, education, international communication, and the digital space. Particular attention is paid to the position of the Russian language in post-Soviet countries, including Central Asia. The article concludes that Russian plays an important role as a global language and serves as a vital tool for intercultural interaction.
