This study formulates and tests principles for selecting an active lexical minimum for preschool foreign language learning. By comparing frequency–functionality, cognitive–articulatory feasibility, and scenario-based selection across 90 children, the study finds that scenario alignment yields the best transfer and retention. We propose the SFF protocol (Scenario–Frequency–Feasibility) to balance memorability, stability, and communicative use.
