This article explores the role of color and sound imagery in Honoré de Balzac’s novel Father Goriot as essential means of artistic expression. The author analyzes how color and sound contribute to the creation of a psychological atmosphere, the conveyance of characters’ emotional states, and the depiction of 19th-century Parisian society. Special attention is given to the symbolism of color and sound in descriptions of interiors, streets, and the characters’ clothing, as well as their impact on shaping the overall emotional tone of the narrative. The study highlights the significance of sensory imagery within the structure of Balzac’s realist storytelling and reveals its function in constructing a profound social drama.
