This article analyzes the international legal, geopolitical, and economic issues related to access to space and the exploration of outer space. Drawing an analogy with the history of colonialism, the article highlights new fields of competition emerging in space activities under the influence of powerful states and private companies. In addition, it examines the obsolescence of international legal norms, the circumvention of existing rules through the adoption of new laws, and the balance of geopolitical forces in this field.
