This article provides a comparative analysis of the evolution of the electoral system of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the context of the transition from a majoritarian model to a mixed electoral system. The study examines the institutional features of the previously applied majoritarian system, its role in ensuring political stability, and its impact on representation and party competition. In addition, the article analyzes the essence of the mixed electoral system introduced as a result of the 2023 constitutional reforms and its role in expanding political pluralism by combining majoritarian and proportional elements. The advantages and disadvantages of both systems are assessed on the basis of the criteria of political representation, party institutionalization, and democratic legitimacy. The author interprets the electoral system as an important institutional factor in the process of political modernization.
