Most of the social analyses of Central Asia in Turkey emphasize the ethnic aspects of identity in the region. However, Islam, which is the basic building block of this identity, is more important. In this study, the role of Islam, which is the most influential element in the identity of the Uzbeks, the most populous and most widespread community in Central Asia, in this identity will be expressed. Because the phenomenon of religion in the Uzbeks was intertwined with their ethnicity and became the most basic building block of their identity. This paved the way for the Uzbeks to be an influential people in the historical process of the region. Because the Uzbeks, one of the first Turkic tribes to accept Islam in Central Asia, became the pioneer of making the region a center of civilization by adopting a settled life. This issue has had effects from history to the present and has formed the background of the identity construction process and the basic elements that make up the state in today's independent Uzbekistan. Therefore, this issue formed the basis of the reflexes in the domestic and foreign policies of the Uzbek state.
