This article analyzes the condition, development trends, and major problems of the healthcare system in the Uzbek SSR during 1945–1956. Particular attention is paid to public health protection, the fight against infectious diseases, the restoration of medical institutions, and the training of qualified medical personnel in the postwar period. At the same time, the study demonstrates that poor sanitary and hygienic conditions, shortages of medical staff, weak material and technical infrastructure, and the difficult social conditions of the population contributed to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation in the republic. Based on archival sources, periodicals, and scholarly literature, the article reveals both the achievements and the contradictory aspects of Soviet healthcare policy.
