The article examines the regulatory sandbox as a form of experimental legal regime. Based on doctrinal analysis, the author formulates the concept and essential features of experimental legal regimes. The study also identifies the main forms of experimental legal regimes: pilot projects, sunset legislation, innovation hubs, exemption-based regimes, and regulatory sandboxes. Through a comparative legal analysis of theoretical literature as well as national and foreign legislation, it is established that the regulatory sandbox most fully corresponds to all the essential features of experimental legal regimes, representing their most characteristic and classical embodiment. The conclusion is drawn that the regulatory sandbox provides an optimal balance between innovative freedom and legal certainty, which determines its priority position within the system of forms of experimental legal regimes.
