Protection of Trade Secrets: International Standards and the Legislation of Uzbekistan

Annotatsiya

This article examines the protection of trade secrets through a comparative legal analysis of international standards and the legislation of Uzbekistan, the USA, the European Union, and the United Kingdom. It demonstrates that most legal systems rely on three key criteria for protection: the secrecy of the information, its commercial value, and the implementation of reasonable protective measures. The legislation of Uzbekistan, in addition to these requirements, establishes an additional criterion and a more formalized regime for protecting trade secrets, which imposes further procedural obligations on rights holders. Particular attention is given to the changes planned for 2025, including the mechanism for damages. The article concludes that Uzbekistan needs to develop a proactive and well-documented system for managing trade secrets, taking into account international experience.
