Annotatsiya

This paper systematizes the theoretical foundations of phonostylistic interference, understood as the style-sensitive transfer of L1 phonetic and prosodic patterns into L2 speech across communicative situations and registers. The central claim is that interference cannot be reduced to segmental mispronunciations: it crucially involves phonostylistic parameters—intonational phrasing, prominence and focus, pausing strategies, tempo–rhythm, and voice quality—which shape pragmatic interpretation and perceived appropriateness. The study proposes a three-layer integrative model covering (1) linguistic system constraints, (2) register- and genre-based sociolinguistic norms, and (3) psycholinguistic control mechanisms (attention, monitoring, automatization, emotion, accommodation). Building on this model, the paper offers a typology organized by level (segmental/suprasegmental/paralinguistic), function (informational/interpersonal/expressive), and register (prepared vs spontaneous; formal vs informal). It also outlines an empirical toolkit: multi-style learner corpora, acoustic measurements, listener-based evaluations, and discourse annotation, complemented by quantitative indices (SSI, interference load, pragmatic mismatch index). The paper argues for shifting assessment from “correctness” toward “appropriateness,” thereby linking phonetic theory to communicative success, pedagogy, and speech technologies.
